It’s the most wonderful time of the year: anticipating the celebrations of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am so excited to celebrate my favorite holidays, especially after the year we have had. I think we all could use something happy to look forward to, and the holidays are just the ticket in my book. The holidays certainly won’t look the same this year. That’s why I think it is more important than ever to enjoy the season being cozy and inspired in our own homes. Today, I’m sharing a room I haven’t shared on here yet: my breakfast nook. It’s where the two of us eat every meal, catch up on the day’s news, and enjoy spending quality time together. It’s small and quaint. And now, it’s been touched with a hint of Christmas. Nothing too overtly Christmas yet, I like to keep it very simple until after Thanksgiving. Personally, I enjoy a little twinkle lights when sitting down to a delicious turkey dinner haha.
This is the view of our breakfast nook from our dining room. I keep a mini tree in here every year, and I usually keep it in that back corner so my guests can enjoy that quaint twinkle of lights as they sit down to a meal at our dining table. I like to place my Christmas trees in areas where I will get the most impact out of them. Placing it there means we get to enjoy it from either the breakfast nook or our dining room. It just adds a little something special I think. The tree is from a matching set I got from Target two years ago. I have one in here and the other sitting next to my computer so I can enjoy a little festive decor while I write this post.
Honestly, Christmas trees just make everything better, don’t they? I love sitting in here with my blanket while drinking coffee in the morning. Pumpkin spice coffee, more specifically. We also keep a small electric fireplace in the other corner to help keep our feet cozy and warm when we enjoy our meals in here.
This tiny space is easily one of my favorite places in our home. It was rather plain when we first purchased the house, but with the additions of beadboard, some beautiful drapes, lots of texture, and a neutral color palette, it has become a tranquil space that we will love for a long time, especially during the holidays.
To spruce up the table (which is a garbage pick find!), I simply added some greenery in a crock that I usually keep in here. This crock is small and the perfect size for this table, so I generally just switch out the stems in it for the seasons. And of course, no breakfast nook is complete without a yummy candle. I love these mason jar candles. They are Tuscany brand, and I buy them for $6 at my local Meijer. They are some of my favorite candles for several reasons: the style, the scents, and the price. That is a great combo if you ask me!
To add some festive touches to these wall frames, I used watercolors to paint some mini trees. I am always changing out these frames to fit the seasons as well. I used them to create some Halloween art back in October and now they are home to some simply painted trees for the holiday season. Last year, I placed some cedar stems in them, and the year before that I added some beautiful plaid wrapping paper. It’s too early in the season to pick up my fresh greens so I decided this year I would change it up a little and just paint something myself. Why not make our spaces more personal?
I hope you’ve enjoyed this simply decorated breakfast nook for Christmas. I absolutely love this room, especially around the holidays. Whether it’s sitting here with my coffee in the morning or sharing a meal in the evening with Ryan, this space will always be special to me. And the twinkle of that sweet little tree always makes it even more special. Thank you so much for checking out this space today!

I have that same table but in honey oak. This inspires me to paint it one day and revive it for a more modern look with more comfortable chairs. Would love to know the paint brand and various product that you used to revive your garbage pick. π Great work, Jill! It is so beautiful and inviting. Your economical creative genius always wows me. ~Nancy

Wow thank you so much!! I seriously love all my garbage picked items haha. For this project, I had originally sanded it down to the raw wood and left it that way for about a year maybe. I wanted that βrawβ look. But after a while I was really craving something brighter. To paint it, I actually used the leftovers of a sample pot of paint I had picked up to test in my living room. It was a Benjamin Moore color. Iβll have to rummage through my all my sample paints to find that color. Haha.

Hi, Jill! Are those linen napkins hanging on the hooks? Love the space so much!

Thank you, Val!! These are some tea towels that I picked up from a small shop in Indiana. However, I have noticed them at several other decor small shops lately as well! Iβm going to poke around the internet and see if I can find them online because Iβm curious now where else people can purchase them π

I found them! They are on Amazon. The company is called Creative Co-Op Inc. They come in a set of 3. These are the tan and grey cotton striped towels ππ
